Legacy Weapon - 2 - The Anatomy of a Ham Sandwich

It may not be apparent to everyone, but make no mistake - innovation in Legacy is very dear to me, as the format is incredibly large.  Finding cards that do exactly what you need them to do is difficult, and making sure they fit your mana curve is even more difficult.  That said, here is a deck that I've been piloting for a couple months now, to local success:

"Intuition Loam", or "Ham Sandwich", or "Maybe one of the most difficult control decks you'll ever pilot"

4 Tarmogoyf
4 Knight of the Reliquary
2 Trinket Mage

4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Intuition
2 Punishing Fire
2 Engineered Explosives
3 Firespout
1 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Zuran Orb
1 Worm Harvest
1 Life from the Loam
1 Crucible of Worlds
4 Mox Diamond

4 Windswept Heath
1 Flooded Strand
1 Wooded Foothills
3 Tranquil Thicket
2 Secluded Steppe
2 Savannah
1 Taiga
1 Plateau
1 Tundra
1 Tropical Island
1 Academy Ruins
1 Grove of the Burnwillows
1 Karakas
1 Maze of Ith
1 Gargoyle Castle
1 Forest
1 Plains
3 Wasteland

Sideboard:
4 Meddling Mage
2 Loaming Shaman (Flex Slot)
3 Krosan Grip
1 Firespout (Flex Slot)
1 Pithing Needle
1 Phyrexian Furnace
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Aether Spellbomb

This was designed with a specific metagame in mind - beat Zoo, Merfolk and Reanimator.  Consider how Intuition affects all of these:

Intuition vs Zoo - Life from the Loam, Engineered Explosives, Academy Ruins - 3x Firespout; Recurring Explosives makes life difficult for Zoo
Intuition vs Merfolk - Life from the Loam, Punishing Fire, Grove of the Burnwillows - 3x Firespout;  Grove/Fire is very difficult for Merfolk to beat
Intuition vs Reanimator - (Iona) Life from the Loam, Karakas, cycle land - (Sphinx of the Steel Wind) Life from the Loam, Maze of Ith, cycle land - (Inkwell/Archangel) 3x Knight of the Reliquary

This makes no mention of even drawing any of the pieces naturally either.  Intuition obviously fixes every puzzle, but what if you don't draw Intuition?  The trick is redundancy.  Untapping with Knight solves any of the land situations, Sensei's Divining Top and Trinket Mage will help you find many of the spells you need to set up a soft-lock.

Some more individual card choices:
1 Crucible/1 Loam - While almost all Intuitions will fetch out Loam, but if you cast a Crucible of Worlds versus a control deck, your life will be easy for the rest of the game.  Also, this is the reason why the deck is playing a Gargoyle Castle.
1 Worm Harvest - Throwaway card for an Intuition, also very strong with Knight, this is another easy win versus some decks.
3 Wasteland in a 4-color deck - Do you like free wins?  Do you enjoy playing the game when your opponent is not playing the game?  Keeping people honest with their mana, while being filthy with mine.

I'm not going to give a specific sideboarding guide, but here's the gist of it:
You are preboarded versus decks that want to attack - if you want to beat a control/combo deck, you need to take out most of your removal and bring in the majority of your board.

It's not perfect, but if your metagame is full of people who want to attack and block, there's nothing else I'd rather play.

This deck poses a big problem for my Death and Taxes deck, I am 0-1-1 against it in tournaments. Why does my deck need to attack? I need Helix Pinnacle.
