Jacob Draft 3: My tender breath.

Kai was also in this draft, stay tuned for the wildness that followed.

Pack 1, Pick 1:

 My Pick:

Bomb rare over great accel. I now look to ramp'em ups.

Pack 1, Pick 2:

My Pick:

A second nice win condition, now I want some ramp.

Pack 1, Pick 3:

My Pick:

Pretty vomit, I possibly should have taken the soulsurge but invasion is excellent with both my fat cards so far even if it isn't truly ramp. Now I can also look for some token synergy in addition to ramp.

Pack 1, Pick 4:

My Pick:

This card is excellent in any game plan I end up in.

Pack 1, Pick 5:

My Pick:

Good in eldrazi ramp decks, but not so good in token synergy ramp.  Still nothing else to take so I take the wall.

Pack 1, Pick 6:

My Pick:

6th pick sideboard card WOOOOOO!!!!!

Pack 1, Pick 7:

My Pick:

Good if I end up in tokens, not taking anything else over it otherwise.

Pack 1, Pick 8:

My Pick:

I don't know what I should have taken here but they all are pretty mediocre in my type of deck.

Pack 1, Pick 9:

My Pick:

Since it seems likely I'm in token, I could maybe end up in black.  Probably should have just taken the naturalize.

Pack 1, Pick 10:

My Pick:

Pack 1, Pick 11:

My Pick:

Ok we have a plan...

Pack 1, Pick 12:

My Pick:

...and it involves raiding.

Pack 1, Pick 13:

My Pick:

Pack 1, Pick 14:

My Pick:

Pack 1, Pick 15:

My Pick:

So if I want to use any cards from pack 1, I need to be in tokens.

Pack 2, Pick 1:

My Pick:

Lusting would have been nice, but not over better cards.

Pack 2, Pick 2:

My Pick:

The nuts!

Pack 2, Pick 3:

My Pick:

Oh, we're all;-in.

Pack 2, Pick 4:

My Pick:

Deck really needed this one.

Pack 2, Pick 5:

My Pick:

If I have to splash essence feeds then I'm going to need a couple of these.

Pack 2, Pick 6:

My Pick:

We're so all-in (this was a miscick, didn't see the crusher until my right finger had already decided).

Pack 2, Pick 7:

My Pick:

It even goes raiding!

Pack 2, Pick 8:

My Pick:

Bring on the 1 toughness guys.

Pack 2, Pick 9:

My Pick:

Should have hated the lay bare instead, enforcer was just going to die by breath if played against me.

Pack 2, Pick 10:

My Pick:

Pack 2, Pick 11:

My Pick:

Raid!

Pack 2, Pick 12:

My Pick:

Pack 2, Pick 13:

My Pick:

Pack 2, Pick 14:

My Pick:

Pack 2, Pick 15:

Pack 3, Pick 1:

My Pick:

Need...more...TOKENS!

Pack 3, Pick 2:

My Pick:

Good at getting tokens in there and 2/2s into walls.

Pack 3, Pick 3:

My Pick:

Good to have a trick when playing with tokens.

Pack 3, Pick 4:

My Pick:

I really want to play the guys with all one toughness guys.

Pack 3, Pick 5:

My Pick:

Eh, wasn't playing the wrap so just making sure I don't lose to fliers.

Pack 3, Pick 6:

My Pick:

What a gift

Pack 3, Pick 7:

My Pick:

Guess it is good against me and possibly as a board card.

Pack 3, Pick 8:

 My Pick:

Trips breath is enough so I go for the fat token card.

Pack 3, Pick 9:

My Pick:

Just what I needed, one more way to token people out.

Pack 3, Pick 10:

My Pick:

Lost the rest of the picks but I don't think they were too interesting.

Realized after the draft Kai was on my left. Explains the dragonlord.

Deck
10 Mountains
7 Forests
Might of the Masses
Runed Servitor
2 Brood Birthing
3 Spawning Breath
Kargan Dragonlord
Growth Spasm
Staggershock
2 Raid Bombardment
Daggerback Basilisk
Lavafume Invoker
Battle-Rattle Shaman
Ondu Giant
Wildheart Invoker
Emrakul's Hatcher
2 Skittering Invasion
Artisan of Kozilek
Gelatinous Genesis
Heat Ray

All tokens all day long.

R1G1 He's UG and mulls to 5, however he cryptologists into lands and all I have are tokens and an Wildheart Invoker while he has wavewatch to hold off the beats.  I finally draw the breath for his cryptologist but he has Sphinx of Magosi.  Luckily, I have my only out, the heat ray, and dispose of it before he gets any cards.  He Drake Umbras up his wavewatch, however I rip Raid Bombardment like a champ and kill him in two turns.

R1G2 I play Kargan, he dies :). Fair card for a UG deck to handle.

R2G1 He's UW bad cards.  He plays Caravan Escort and goes to leveltown, however I have the staggershock with level 5 on the stack.  This four turn timewalk is good enough as I make some tokens and some 2/2s, then eventually beat him with Lavafume Invoker.

R2G2 He plays trips Lone Missionary which might have been a problem if that card was good.  I have Kargan, breath takes care of his Champion's Drake so no Smite nonsense will go down, and he rapidly dies.

I split with Kai in the finals.  Sorry the games weren't very interesting, but both decks were pretty cold to Kargan.  R1's deck was good but mulled and R2 was very soft to my breath.  I can't complain though, another win in the bank.

I stopped really reading after you both shipped the Raid Bombardment from that terribad pack. Wrap and Invasion are both just worse by miles.

You're probably much more experienced with this format than I am, but usually when I'm playing Raid Bombardment it means my deck sucks. Only in magical christmas land does one get the necessary tokens and not just want to cash them in for a fatty. Granted I ended up in such archetype due to them both tabling, but still I like invasion to go with my first two picks. I could be results oriented about raid though.

Jacob, when you play Raid Bombardment, its probably only 1-2 that you incidentally got. When I play it, I want 3 minimum, and each extra one gets incrementally better. I passed the 5th one once as I thought it was enough. It wasn't, but that deck was probably still my best non-Venerated Teacher deck of this draft format. Put simply, I cast Devastating Summons for 1 multiple times.
