A Look into the New Extended

For those of you who weren't aware, today the Banned/Restricted list was updated, with some rather interesting changes. Although I don't play legacy, there was a potentially major change there with the banning of mystical tutor, severely hurting the power of storm combo and reanimator.

However, by far the most shocking change involved extended, which as of July 1st will be completely redone. Now only the 4 most recent blocks will be legal, instead of 7, meaning that PT Amsterdam will be Time Spiral forward. In addition, Hypergenesis and Sword of the Meek are the 2 cards banned in this new format.

Writers, please download the latest version

New version of the draft converter is now available at the same location where you originally downloaded it from (Edit Posts and read the Converting Your Draft For Fun And Profit if you don't remember).

Latest Fixes:

1. Master's Edition works, but uses latest reprint images.  Thanks Wizards, for not having MED as a file folder for that one.
2. Æther, Lim-Dûl, and Ghazbán work. Now I'm waiting for straight up Cyrillic names in cards to make my life hell.
3. Hyphenated card names work.  Hate for Final-Sting Faerie for being a pain and also being not very good.
4. Multi-set drafting works.  Draft your heart out with with ME123, LLM, and MD5

Writers, start your drafting!

I finished writing a small utility to convert your drafts from the MTGO text to a customized The Rusty Machete blog special.  I've added a nice little function from my personal file hosting to make our blog separate from other news/articles/blogs, so that when you use my utility to copy/paste into the Edit HTML part of our blog, it'll come up as clickable, which will zoom the card to its full size as hosted by Wizards.

Example is as follows, as Kai was kind enough to supply me with a draft:

Don't Panic

In the next few days, there will be a lot of stylistic changes to this new blog. Let me know if there are any specific things you would like to see, I am here to make this as legible and user-friendly as possible.

1.  Scrub out of Regionals and lose GP round 1 bye on rating.
2.  "Read more..." links for exceptionally long posts and drafts.
3.  Write script for making the card images also card links.
