Your mana is awful. You definitely don't need 3 Islands for Venser, which is basically on a double splash except you wanted to play Glimmerpoint Stag.
Horizon Spellbomb with your sole source of green a singlton Copper Myr?
Running 5c in limited seems... well, a stretch frankly. It just looks like you're trying to do too much.
Horizon Spellbomb is just Expedition Map in this deck that will very rarely draw a card. This is acceptable.
The build's has certain spell choices I would not have made, like Darksteel Axe and Glint Hawk Idol. And the manabase obviously should've been -1 Island +1 Forest at least. But the fact the pool lent itself to a 5-color build is just how it worked out. Not every pool is 2 color or 2 color + splash.
As the person responsible for teaching Rich to splash Venser in every sealed deck, I take full responsibility or the blue mana in his deck. It's possible the Sylvok Replica should've not been in the deck, but with Copper Myr, Horizon Spellbomb, and a Forest, I can see its inclusion as being fine.
Yeah, I don't agree with the Venser splash. For every game that you win with him, you'll lose another to mana issues. Not to mention it makes it harder to play your two dragons. Curious about how Venser/manabase worked out in actual games, though.
From what I gathered at the event, Rich never lost to mana problems. He either got bombed out or lost to his own punts.
