Hi everyone, welcome back to the Rusty Machete. Content's been a bit low due to finals and then the holidays, but we'll have a lot of new articles ready for you when 2011 comes! To bring in the New Year and wet your appetite for the next PTQ season, I'll walk you through a Magic Online Extended Daily Event I played in with Faeries and what I learned. Enjoy!
Some noobs journey through the world of Magic:The Gathering for better or worse (mostly worse).

The Bastille #2 - Attacking from all angles, and faxing questions. Part 1. (PTQ winner’s report)
Welcome friends and perusers to my second article.
I had been meaning to write one for some time
now but could not think of anything interesting to write about. I
mentioned in my last article that I would
write about a blue/white do-nothing standard deck, but I decided that I
would
rather not shame myself by writing about an untested deck that featured Archive Traps and Rest for the Weary. So…winning
this last Detroit PTQ came just in time to give me something to write
about,
and I would have done it sooner but I’m lazy (I also thought that seeing
the
pool I was gifted would discredit my win, but I still had to play 8
rounds and
draft in the top 8).
Well, let’s get to it; here’s the pool I opened and
the deck
I built out of it:
Legacy Mox Tournament Report
Last Saturday, Get Your Game On held a legacy tournament, with first place being a Mox Emerald and the rest of the top 8 getting other fairly good prizes. I don't have much experience in the format, having only played in a handful of weekly events with decks I've borrowed from others, but after clearing my schedule for Saturday and confirming I'd be able to get the necessary cards I decided to give the event a shot.

Jokesin’ with Goblins
When I first heard of a goblin deck that had won a States
tournament, I was definitely intrigued to say the least. It had been a looong time since anyone had
done well with a goblin deck in standard, and I would say that even in the days
of Lorwyn, the goblin deck never really won anything substantial. A second later, it all clicked and I realized
that the deck would be prime candidate for a jank deck. I had to make sure of two things though: 1) All
goblin cards basically commons and uncommons: check; 2) Goblin Chieftain still
budget: check (it’s $0.50).

Evolving Standard Singleton
While I didn't win last weekend's Standard Singleton PE to due a myriad of misplays during my Top 4 match against monored, I did learn a lot about the format and where to make advances in the coming tournaments. As SS isn't as popular as it should be, I will be talking about general deckbuilding and evolution as well, to broaden the usefulness of this article.
Bonus: There will be elephants!

Chen_Chen_CHN was Poisoned!!! A look into Scars Block Constructed
Block Constructed is one of the easiest ways to make profit on Magic Online. The startup costs are typically low, since there are no Jaces, Primeval Titans, or other cards close to that price in the format. In fact, the deck I'm going to advocate costs a total of around 20 tickets.

Legacy Weapon - An Introspective, then Thinking: Thinking about Thinking
An Introspective
I spend a lot of time thinking.
Someone could even argue that my geometry teacher, Mrs. Richards, from middle school was right. The quote that often goes through my mind is "Someday, someone will pay you to sit in a room and think." While I also spend a lot of time working (computer programming often requires a lot of thinking as well), I spend a lot of time thinking about Magic.

Putting the Pro in Proliferate: A Scars PTQ Top 8
This past weekend Matt, Kurtis, and I headed to Indianapolis to play in a Scars sealed PTQ. Two of us Top 8'd , while Kurtis finished a bit out of the money. Matt and I had very different pools and strategies that got us through the swiss, so I felt it worthwhile to write about my experiences. Enjoy!
Going for a Tumble: A Scars PTQ Top 8
After a dissapointing finish in Toronto, Kai, Kurtis, and I decided to drive down to Indianapolis for a chance to redeem ourselves at a PTQ.
Feature Article - Taking Down a Tournament with Hushmi
I played in the “Blue Duals” tournament at Get Your Game On last weekend. I split with the other players in the top four taking home 1 Underground Sea, 1 Tropical Island, and 1 Volcanic Island. I played the following list:

Feature Article - The Bastille-Bastion of Basem #1
Greetings my fellow magicians, my name is Basem Askoul, and I am very excited to debut my very first magic article here. Most of you know me from Get Your Game On where I've had some modest success across various formats; I also have in my possession one PTQ top 8 pin (did it!). That nonsense aside, I like to believe that people know/respect me due to my friendly attitude and funky deck design (some good, mostly bad).

Feature Article - Mike Shentu Draft #1
Glad to be able to
finally draft Scars, because M11 really was not fun at all. Let's get
started.

Kai Draft #25 (SOM 8-4)
I've drafted this format a total of four times before today. And one of those was a disastrous PTQ Top 8 draft. That also happened to be the only draft I didn't draft poison. Well, it's time to learn what to do when the infect creatures aren't coming.

Road House (Write for us!)
About 2 months ago I had moved to Ann Arbor and most of my free time was being gobbled up by work and more work. I haven't been able to keep up with what is being posted on The Rusty Machete and I haven't had time to edit articles into works of art.
